Not so fast, California: 'Gay marriage' not legal yet despite court ruling

A pro-family leader says judges have illegally allowed homosexual "marriages" to commence in California, although Proposition 8 is still in effect.

"Gay" marriages resumed in California after the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals lifted a stay on homosexual marriage. The federal appeals court rushed to lift the stay although proponents of Prop. 8 had 25 days to request another hearing from the U.S. Supreme Court.

Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, says the action by the court was "unprecedented."

"Prop. 8 is still enforceable statewide until an appellate court declares it unconstitutional," he tells OneNewsNow.Thomasson, Randy (SaveCalifornia.com)

"Neither the California Supreme Court nor the U.S. Supreme Court has done so, and the federal appeals court ruling has been vacated."

Thomasson says California officials and federal judges have flexed their tyrannical power by abandoning their sworn duty to uphold the law.

"A tyrant is a person in power who ignores the Constitution and the rule of law," he says. "They do what they feel like and they dress it up as the law."

Shortly after the Supreme Court issued its ruling on Prop. 8, California Governor Jerry Brown instructed all counties to start issuing marriage licenses for same-gender couples.
