Mountain bikes in Indiana?? You bet!? The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) named Brown County State Park?s mountain bike trails as one of five ?epic? mountain biking destinations worldwide in 2011.? The Hoosier Mountain Bike Association (HMBA) has helped to develop or maintain over 120 miles of outstanding mountain bike trails right here in our state, including the world-famous Brown County trails.? HMBA will be on hand all week at the Quiet Sports and Outdoor Living Pavilion to provide instruction and guidance to show-goers on an actual mountain bike skills course.
Fly fishing continues to grow in popularity ? including right here in Indiana, where more and more folks are learning that you don?t need trout to fly fish.?? Flymasters of Indianapolis is returning to this year?s Quiet Sports and Outdoor Living Pavilion with all the latest fly fishing gear and informal guidance and instruction on a specially-constructed fly casting pond, as well as an Orvis-endorsed fly fishing course intended to help students develop their fly fishing skills and enjoy the types of fly fishing available in our area.? Kayaks and canoes are more popular than ever ? and for good reason.? These portable and versatile boats offer anglers and recreational paddlers a more intimate on-the-water experience.? They are both high-tech and highly economical, which adds a great deal to their appeal.? A variety of the latest kayaks will be available for show-goers to try in the Kayak Demonstration Pool.? The Hoosier Canoe Club will be on-hand all ten days of the show to answer questions, assist with paddling demonstrations and provide tips and information on paddling safety.
Ever dreamed of exploring the world beneath the water?s surface? Diver?s Supply Indy invites you to experience the thrill of scuba diving through their interactive Discover Scuba display.? Under close supervision, show-goers will be given the opportunity to experience scuba diving in pool or pool-like conditions. They will be taught the basic concepts and scuba skills to prepare for their own open water adventures!
Speaking of adventure, Are you ready for the Peak Adventure Rock Wall? This custom designed mobile rock wall stands 24 feet tall and is open to anyone who wants to give rock climbing a try. ?The Wall has been one of the most popular exhibits at past shows and with the increasing popularity of the X-Games, more people will climb the rock wall this year than ever before!
Another key quiet sports feature is the return of the crowd-pleasing dock-diving dogs. Dockside Promotions will conduct the Vest-A-K9 Dock-Diving Event to entertain show-goers while also raising funds for a worthy cause ? providing bulletproof vests to police dogs.? So, jump in!

The Ford Indianapolis Boat, Sport and Travel Show is well known for its high-quality seminars.? Visitors to the Quiet Sports and Outdoor Living Pavilion will be treated to a variety of high-profile speakers covering interesting and insightful topics ? from what it takes to summit the world?s highest peaks, to the best paddling opportunities right here on Indiana?s rivers and streams.
Over the last twenty years, Rob Kesselring has completed 16 canoe trips north of the sixtieth parallel including the Nahanni, Hood, Mara-Burnside, Mountain, Elk, Taltson, Thelon, Thekehili, and the Snowdrift. ?As a young man he lived in the Northwest Territories of Canada for eight years including a year in the bush, where his nearest neighbor was 100 miles away. He was a registered Class B Guide in the Arctic and an accomplished bush pilot.? Rob has written four books and many articles. His company Uncommon Seminars LLC brings wilderness canoeing metaphors to companies and organizations faced with change or renewal.? In partnership with the University of St. Thomas, his company also leads summer leadership and wildlife seminars in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness where Rob is a registered guide through the National Forest Service. Rob has paddled 91 rivers worldwide and has been shot at, stabbed, buried in an avalanche and charged by a grizzly bear.? He?ll be sharing all of these experiences and more during his fascinating seminars at this year?s Quiet Sports and Outdoor Living Pavilion.
Dave Canterbury, co-star of the hit survival series Dual Survival on the Discovery Channel will return to this year?s Quiet Sports and Outdoor Living Pavilion with all new seminars on his Pathfinder System ? a simplified military style training system that teaches wilderness self-reliance on a new level. ?Dave won the Traditional Archery Nationals in the Self Bow class in 2006, and is an avid bowhunter and sportsman. Passing these traditions and lessons along to the next generation is at the core of his philosophies.? He also sponsors the Pathfinder Youth Program, a non-profit organization that was created to help youth groups in local ministries to enjoy the outdoors and receive training on the invaluable skills taught in the Pathfinder System.
Sailors and anyone who appreciates true adventure will hang on every word offered by Rusty Jackson ? the man who sailed a 20-foot sailboat with no engine or electronic navigation equipment on the planet?s highest and most remote seas for a period of eight years.

The Quiet Sports and Outdoor Living Pavilion will be open all ten days at this year?s Ford Indianapolis Boat, Sport and Travel Show, and is the perfect place to learn more and see more of these great outdoor recreational activities.?
