(Machesney Park, Illinois) The Rockford community rallies to help an infant born with brain cancer.? 3 month old Matthew Erickson has spent almost all of his life in hospitals, but his family says he's a real fighter, and they'll help him in every way possible.?Matthew was born with an extremely rare form of brain cancer that is also extremely aggressive. At four days old he had his first brain surgery to remove as much of the cancerous tumor as possible . His great aunt, Deb Rinaldi who lives in Machesney Park is helping to hold a benefit for Matthew and his family, who are already facing more than a million dollars in medical bills.?When asked about Matthew's prognosis she said "i don't think anyone knows his diagnosis. I don't think the doctors know. They called doctors all over the country to find out what to do for him."??Deb adds the family is going to do everything they can to help Matthew and are enjoying every minute they?have with him. She adds they believe he'll win his battle with cancer. ?
