Many manual cheese graters have cheap plastic handles that aren't hard to break off. A gentleman named [The Timmy] had this happen, and instead of giving up his dream of shredded cheese, he used a long bolt and a nut to replace the handle and used his cordless drill to screw and unscrew the bolt, turning the broken grater into a power grater.
Depending on how the handle of your grater attaches you might be able to do this hack without permanently altering your cheese grater.
